This virtual event featured the official launch of the RRA El Salvador. The event served as a platform to highlight a number of important topics relevant to renewable energy development in El Salvador amongst government officials, partners and other stakeholders to promote the implementation of the recommendations made in the RRA report. The session built on the insights from IRENA’s analysis, including the linkage between the set of five key thematic areas to be carried out beyond the RRA and the enhancement of El Salvador’s nationally determined contributions (NDCs).

Following a presentation on the findings of the IRENA Coalition for Action white paper Stimulating Investment in Community Energy, a panel discussion was held to discuss how policies can be designed to value citizen participation, current experiences in the implementation of financing instruments to support community energy, and examples of initiatives that have successfully mobilized financing to deploy renewable energy projects benefitting citizens and communities. This webinar featured the launch of the platform and demonstrates how the tool has been utilised by homeowners, investors and project developers to assess the rooftop solar PV potential in areas such as Zhangjiakou, China; Castries, St Lucia; and Victoria, Seychelles; and Kasese, Uganda.
With a view to supporting the efforts of the countries of Latin America in undertaking the transformation of their energy sector, IRENA and the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica co-organised a regional workshop to exchange lessons learned and best practices in the development and implementation of decarbonisation strategies driven by renewable energy, energy efficiency and electrification.
